Final Report

I read the book, Linchpin, by Seth Godin.  It is a nonfiction book about reaching your potential.  What is a "linchpin" you ask?  It is actually the bolt that holds the wheel onto the axle rod.  If the linchpin falls off, you are in major trouble.  Godin equates this to people.  In other words, how can you make yourself into a "linchpin"?  That is someone who is so vital that if your job is cut or your position is axed, your boss would find a different position for you.  Or if not, other employers will be asking you to join their companies.

This book was a great read.  I enjoyed Godin's ideas and find myself connecting them to the people who are "linchpins" in my life - Dr. Connolly, Mr. Zutz, Coach Mumm, Ruth Pederson, and Dr. Gerneau at UND.  It also made me focus on what abilities I want to develop to eventually become a linchpin.
